Between Canazei and Arabba, where the slopes trace a natural circle around Sass Becé, lies a route that captures the very essence of the Dolomites: the Sass Becé Tour.
A panoramic loop that doesn’t require the effort of the Sellaronda, yet offers the same sense of adventure and, perhaps, something more: the freedom to choose your own pace.

A tour between two valleys, under the gaze of Sass Becé
Sass Becé, a solitary peak of pale rock, rises from the great Sella bastion like a sentinel watching over the Ladin valleys of Fassa and Arabba. Its jagged, isolated profile follows you throughout the tour. The route winds across the snow-covered meadows of Belvedere and the lower ridges of Pordoi, embracing the north-eastern crown of the Sella Group: from Sass Pordoi, with the unmistakable pyramid of Piz Boé, to Piz Lech Dlacé, the "peak of the frozen lake".
It is a free-flow skiing day with signposted directions: the pink signs guide the way, but you choose where to stop, which slope to ski again, and when to climb to higher viewpoints for a break in the sun. From Canazei, take the gondola to Pecol, then continue up with the Toè or Col dei Rossi. Alternatively, from Alba di Canazei, a single cable car ride brings you directly to Col dei Rossi, where you are welcomed by the Countess of Dolèda. Standing 3.6 metres tall and light as the wind, this metal sculpture by Fassa artist Andrea Dorigatti moves and gleams in the sunlight - an elegant, mysterious figure, ready to judge whether you are worthy of her kingdom of snow and silence.
From here, descend along the Kristiania slope, ride back up with the Sass Becé chairlift, cross towards Arabba and reach the Pordoi Pass with the Maria chairlift. A 700-metre vertical ascent by cable car takes you to Sass Pordoi - the Terrace of the Dolomites at 2,950 metres: an unmissable experience, where the Catinaccio, Sassolungo and Marmolada unfold before you like a sea of stone and light. The return journey flows along the Pordoi slope and the Gonzaga ski lift, closing the loop back at Pecol.
Along the way, you may even glimpse Lake Pian da Mur, a curve of blue nestled among mountain pines, larches, rhododendrons and Swiss stone pines of Pordoi. Its crystal-clear waters reflect the perfect silhouettes of Sassolungo and Sella, offering a unique view of these two iconic Dolomite groups.
An easy, complete and panoramic tour - ideal if you love to move without haste, yet with a clear sense of direction, both on and off the slopes.
Only a short 300-metre stretch must be walked between the Maria chairlift and the Pordoi cable car.
